Any compatibility issues running macOS Mojave w/ Samsung EVO 860 SSD?

I just installed an EVO 860 SSD in my MBP, and I am considering installing Mojave. Does anyone know of any issues I should expect or be aware of pertaining to compatibility with this configuration? The SSD has only ever ran with High Sierra and is currently running High Sierra 10.13.6.

The main issues I have seen are with SSHD drives. I have not run in to problems with the SSD drives yet. But I would certainly do a Time Machine backup before proceeding. Also Microsoft wants more of your money so your MS Office 2011 will give you nightmares and slow you down to about 5% of your normal speed.

You can read up on the problems with SSHD drives with Mojave on mid 2012 MBPs here

You may not install this volume because the computer is missing a firm

I recommend sticking with Sierra on your system. APFS has issues on SATA based SSD’s.

You should also look at replacing your HD SATA cable as the Unibody systems have a fragile cable.

Just alter the installer to not upgrade to GUID/APFS on your SSD which it will do by default.

That’s why I tell people to stay with Sierra and not go to High Sierra.

Hey Dan,

How would one go about doing that? That GUID/APFS completely shut down my attempts to go to HighSierra & I'm assuming Mojave is the same rodeo.

Altering the installer just requires going into terminal to alter a setting. Here how: How to Skip Converting to APFS When Installing macOS High Sierra

My MBP 2012 Mid is now running MacOS Mojave perfectly with SSD Samsung 860 EVO SATA III.

I almost gave up because had issues with my flat cable. Replace flat cable and be happy.

At first I searched a lot information and I got confused if this SSD work fine with my Mac. The answer is Yes.

PS:

My Mac has 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz - Corsair that I installed one year ago.

The SSD (500 Gb) is running Mojave with APFS format.

My older HD (500 Gb) with APFS format is installed in place CD Drive (HDD Caddy)

Hint:

Shutdown your Mac. Press (Option + Command + R) turn on your Mac. This command download Mojave from web to install.

Did anyone experience slow speeds when updating to Mojave using the Samsung 860 Evo SSD drive?

I previously had the 850 Evo which was much faster to boot and load applications. I might revert back to the 850 Evo.

I actually cloned the drive and TRIM is enabled, so its weird that it's running slow.
