Timer clicking and only fill cycle works

Have a Kenmore 500 series.

A few days ago we started with another problem and the spin cycle would not work but everything else did. Replaced the clutch and rebuilt the transmission and the spin cycle worked for a few quick tests. Was excited. Then did a load of laundry and completely different problem now. The timer just makes a clicking sound on any position other than fill and the motor doesnt even try to start.

When I tilted the unit on its side was thinking something maybe got wet. Bad capacitor? Bad timer? I tried putting a cheap multimeter on the capacitor and it seemed ok, but not sure I was checking it right. Maybe something else out of place now? I did accidentally drop it a little hard on its side once.

Thanks a lot!

So the problem was a small sock that made its way to the pump. I read other posts about that issue but was thinking the problem was related to the other work I had done. Plus did not hear any other posts relating it to the timer making the clicking.

So if none of the motor cycles are running and your timer is all you can hear clicking, then check your pump for a clog.

Cause 1

Lid Switch Assembly

The lid switch assembly prevents the washer from spinning when the lid is open. If the lid switch assembly fails, the washer will not spin. To determine if the lid switch assembly is defective, use a multimeter to test the lid switch for continuity. If the lid switch does not have continuity, replace it.

Thanks Mayer for that idea, lid switch was fine though. Ended up being a small sock stuck in the pump. Thanks again!
