How to change a home button ribbon
is it possible to change the home button flex cable without having to remove the front glass, if it is possible how do i do it and could any one make a guide to it

you must take the glass off to gain access to the midframe and the back of the home button..the flex is "L" shaped and goes through a small opening in the midframe to stick onto the back of the home button. the other portion makes contact with the top of the dock connector. You can't gain access without lifting the digitiser/glass off. sorry. as for a guide? it's on a "to do" list.. if you follow the guide for the digitiser to the right you should be fine, it reallly is pretty self explanatory once you get to the home button (1 button, 1 hole, 1 flex..no other choices to mix up)
just check that you do need a whole new flex. sometimes it's a build up dirt/dust/skin/sweat that sticks the button down so it loses the bounce. other times it's just an over use..the prongs on the rear of the frame have flattened with wear. use a flathead screwdriver to gently lift to 45 degrees.

A silver, contact lense-shaped metalic dome is adhered on just the underside of your home button. The adhesive film is wrapped over the metalic dome to keep it in place under the home button. The adhesive film will dry out, loosen or shift from hundreds of home button presses. Once loose, it seperates from the back of the home button and may shift slightly, which causes "ghost presses" that will cause the device to make spontanious and eratic jumps back to the home screen. It jumps to home on its own, so if you're in one of the apps; the home button may "ghost press" and initiate a call, some other app or command that's normally initiated by your physical press of the home button. The home button becomes jammed and you may have to press it multiple times to regain control of your device. The solution is to remove the home button flex and replace it, if you can't re-adhere it properly.
