Harddrive won't spin unless plugged to dead laptop.
Hi,
I’m trying to recover the files from the mac drive I had on my old laptop which just died. It was a GPU problem, and the drive was still working fine.
I tried plugging it to a new IMac 2018 with OSX High Sierra with both an external enclosure and a drive dock but the drive won’t spin, it just makes a clicking sound and sometimes it beeps, I guess it’s not receiving enough power.
Just to make sure I hadn’t ruin the drive I put it back in the Macbook, turned it on, and it spins and boots normally (can’t see but you can hear).
Any ideas what could be happening or how I could make the drive run as an external drive to recover my files?
Thanks!
