iMac 2010 27" HD Failure and SSD replacement
Hello!
Recently, the internal 1TB HD failed, so we looked for service and replacement.
The official Apple re-seller and support in Greece claimed that the computer is characterized by Apple as "vintage" and would not support the repair and advised to seek for an unofficial service provider .
So, we replaced the internal HD with an SSD (Toshiba TR200 480GB) and installed MacOs Sierra using a bootable Sierra USB Stick and then updated to HighSierra from the App Store. Things looked good but then the system became unstable and constantly restarted, showing a grey screen "Your computer restarted because of a problem".
We tried the same steps - boot from a Sierra USB sick, erasing the SSD, re-installing MacOs Sierra for several tiring times, but the problem kept apperaring!
Does the community have any advice that we could follow?
Update (08/11/2018)
Hello again!
I replaced the Toshiba TR200 with an old Samsung EVO 840 120GB (roughly, as @danj had advised ;)). Installed the Sierra MacOs and updated to HighSierra. Unfortunately, the problem is still there. The grey screen "Your computer restarted because of a problem".
Any advise? Perhaps I should also short-circuit the thermal sensor connection?

Dear @danj, since you are most experienced, may I ask an additional question? I just bought the OWC Digital Thermal Sensor. Do you believe that there is any chance that my Toshiba TR200 480GB would work?

Did you install the OWC in-line thermal sensor?

No. Is it mandatory?

Sorry guy this is a fixed SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) drive from what the spec sheet shows, you'll need to find a different drive. See for your self Toshiba TR200 specs
