Freezer only getting to 15F. Ice buildup in back of freezer
I have a Whirlpool WRV986FDEM French door style refrigerator that doesn’t get as cold as the set point of 0F. The evaporator fan runs continuously. I opened the back panel of the freezer and found ice buildup, which tells me it’s a defrost problem. I melted all the ice and started up the refrigerator again. The next day, the freezer was still not getting cold enough.
I checked the heater resistance with a multimeter (analog) and it was in the 70 Ohm range - normal. I ran through the diagnostics on the control panel to check the defrost heater/bimetallic/sensor, defrost thermistor, thermostat. The coils on the bottom of the fridge are clean.
Do I need to manually check the other components with a multimeter or is the control diagnostics good enough?
Can it be anything else besides a board failure?
