Wet damage but dc power light and battery status green.

Hello, so my daugther decided to "clean my laptop" and pour water while she was watching cartoons in it. I was at work, minutes later my daughter complained to my wife that the computer wasnt working. :) So, I have remove most of the components. Removed battery as it was old anyway and dont holding charge, remove logic board, memory, hard disk, everything except: the dc little board and keyboard and track pad. All the components I removed, put them to dry with rice. Once dried, I took them out I cleaned thm with fast drying contact cleaner to remove any corrotion. wait for a couple of hours and I installed everythihng back again. Now, the green led on the dc cable comes green( so I guess that the dc board is working?) the battery status is coming green but blinks and then go off as I am testing without battery, but the fan doesnt come on when I tried to start the laptop. The hard drive SSD is working as I pluged it to another laptop with an usb adapter and it came on and was able to see content (phew!) the memory mayb survived as i didnt see any water nearby when I first took it apart. So I am guessing that its the logic board that is just gone. Is there anything other test I could do ? suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Geez, I really do not know but it might be the logic board. Take it into an Apple Store, because it is probably an extensive repair ahead. I am surprised no one has answered this yet, so probably just take it into an Apple Store. Sorry about that. :/

@ajcooke01 Apple will not work on it as it is over 6 years old. They will call it a Legacy Machine. All they will try to do is sell you a new one.

@mayer You’re right, I thought it was a 2016 or 2018 MacBook, it helps to read item descriptions thoroughly. Thanks for the correction.

Your keyboard is probably shorted out. If so, your machine gets no signal to power up when you press the ON button. Let’s try a spontaneous reboot, bypassing the keyboard command to test. Disconnect the mag-safe. Unplug the battery. Press and hold the power on button for 10 seconds. Hook the battery back up, then the mag-safe. If the logic board is good, you should get a spontaneous reboot. Let us know your results. Was there liquid on the logic board?

While we love our kids, their arms are growing longer and it impairs distance judgement, which results in spills. Using a keyboard skin has saved many a Mac. https://www.amazon.com/DHZ-Transparent-K...

Hello there mayer, sorry for the delayed response, I managed to get hold of some guys here in England which did a fantastic job. Here is part of his response:

'The final problem was not an area affected by the liquid damage but on a related power rail. The main cause was a shorted tantalum capacitor on a USB line. '

I would put their name here but I dont know the rules of the forum etc. So very greatfull to these guys.

P.S: I came back to this site because my partner which have a macbook pro 13 inch touchbar 2016 has now spilled coffee over the keyboard :D blodyhell! so I came back to this site to find more info, just to find out that model repairability score is 1 :o , and also just found(thanks to this wonderful site) out that uses a particular P5 screw . Why is that Apple need to put these pointless screws to its product? its so annoying.

Anyway, end of the rant. Thanks for the advice though.
