iPhone unable to connect to itunes

Before this I had cracked my phone screen to the point where there was a black mark on my screen and wouldn't respond to touch in certain places. Because of this I was unable to put in my password which caused it to be disabled. I later got the screen fixed but now when I try to connect to itunes I get the "ITunes could not connect to this Iphone" message. I tried putting it in recovery mode but I get an error message that says "The Iphone software update server could not be contacted."
