Graphics card fried by wet pin connector- is my connector also broken

Hello everyone!

In a freak drinking accident a couple drops of beer made their way into my case. Unfortunately, they landed right where my graphics card connects to the power supply, frying my card instantly. When I inspected the inside of my case, I saw that when I turned the computer on, smoke litteraly comes out of the graphics card and the computer turns out automatically (motherboard safeties I assume).

The computer turns on fine when I unplug the card, so the power supply itself isn't compromised, but I just bought a new card online and I don't want to destroy it on the first boot. Is there a way I could check if the pin connector for my card is broken also ?

Thank you !

Thanks for your answer, arbaman !

But as i said, everything else worked fine after a day of drying and the removal of the G card.

I just want to know if there's a way for me to check if my connector will fry my new card as soon as I boot the computer...

I don't have any other graphics cards laying around to make tests. Is there an easy way to know ?

Thanks!

It would be certainly wise to test all that's in the damaged area proximity that nothing got burnt and/or is shorted to ground. A magnifier, a good light source and a multimeter together with boardview and schematics would be needed to perform the task appropriately. Try google for your specific model..hopefully you'll be able to find the documents you'd need somewhere around.
