PC booting up but screen dark following screen replacement

I have recently replaced the laptop screen as the old one was cracked, when I put the new one in and powered up the machine the screen was extremely dark and the login screen was only visible when shining a torch at the display. I have tried plugging into an external monitor and that works fine. Does anyone know a solution for this or any additional troubleshooting that I can do? Thank you in advance.

Hi,

It seems that you have "lost" the backlight power to the screen (assuming that the new screen is the correct one for your particular model laptop (what is the exact model number?) and if it is the correct one if it is OK and not faulty.

(You did have the battery removed from the laptop when you removed/replaced the screen didn’t you?)

Can you try the old screen again to check?
