Why won't my media players work?

This is sort of two problems rolled into one so I apologize for the length. The first problem appeared with YouTube randomly pausing for no reason. Then it began happening with my media player and even on the podcast app that I use. The podcasts we're downloaded. On the podcast app it will also randomly leave the app. Checking my recent apps it will still be open, it just takes me to my home screen. It still does this if every other app is closed, after turning the phone off and on, with and without head phones, and with or without the case. The second problem I have only experienced without my headphones. I will turn my volume up, and everything will he fine. Then all of the sudden my audio will be quieter, like I turned it down but the volume bar didn't appear on screen. I try turning it up again but it tells me my audio is where I had previously set it. Then randomly it will go back to the volume I set it at. Help.

@jayeff Before receiving this answer I went through my apps and deleted a bunch that I didn't use often or at all. After restarting my phone I had no problems so I am assuming it was an app that was causing the issues. Thank you though!

Hi @imokayjpg ,

Try starting the phone in safe mode to check if it operates OK.

If it works OK when in safe mode, then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem. The trick is to find out which one!

You need to uninstall each downloaded app, one by one and test the phone, in normal mode, after each uninstall to see if the problem has gone. Once it has gone, the last downloaded app that you uninstalled was the culprit.

If it still fails when in safe mode, try performing a factory reset to see if this resolves the problem.

Before you perform the reset, backup the phone using the phone’s backup feature.

Be aware that a factory reset will erase all your data and downloaded apps. It will restore the phone to its’ factory default condition (or last system updated condition), that’s why it’s important to backup the phone first.

Once the backup has been completed, reset the phone using the phone’s factory restore feature.

Once the reset has been completed check that the phone operates correctly.

If it still doesn’t operate correctly , then you have a hardware problem.

If it operates correctly, restore the phone with the backup you made earlier, using the phone’s restore feature.

Once the phone has been restored, check that it still operates OK.

If it does then the reset has resolved the problem.
