Starting problem, have to manually turn the fan assy back to restart
I have a craftsman riding mower model #917.288525. Its a 21 horse B&S motor, about 6 years old. I have a problem starting it. After I shut it off I have to manually turn back the top where the flywheel/plastic fan/mesh type screen is. I have to turn is back apx 3 full revolutions. I usually have to put a charger on it. I have replaced the starter, battery and solenoid. I'm not sure whats going on....
What does the mower do if your don't turn back the top? Does it try to crank (i.e. does the starter engage), or does it do nothing.

Did you try using starter fluid in the air intake?
