Popped off the battery connection from the logic board... fix?

I wanted to accesses the other side of the logic board because of water damage. I took my spudger and popped the little connector that the wires from batter slide into. This connector is located on the top of the logic board middle, closest to the battery, its the set of wires with a water damage indicator on them right in the middle, hard to miss (if that helps). the wires from battery slide into this connector that I popped off the logic board. Its one of the first steps when wanting to take the logic board out. I believe its the main power supply to the logic board. Is there a way to glue the connector back on (with high temp. adhesive ) or another fix ?

It is possible to repair this. Microsolderers can work with REALLY tiny stuff---we would solder wires to the torn nubs of the traces and then solder a new connector, and then connect the wires back to the connector.

Ouch! You did your self in ;-{

That's the SMC services cable which allows the system to manage the charging and discharging of the battery. You managed to tear the pads on the logic board fully off so there are no means to electrically reconnect the connections.

Time for a new logic board as I don't think you can gain access to patch the lines in this type of board. (layered with a protective cover)

Thank you so much for your fast reply! IS it even possible to get a new logic board?

It is possible to fix it you just have to run wires to the corresponding traces which really sucks. If interested, send it in to someone for logic board repair. I normally say send it to me, but with that kind of problem, you might be best sending it to someone like Louis Rossmann.

Brady8812 - I don't think it's going to be possible the pads are connected through a via to a midlevel layer as you can see there's a ground plane layer surrounding the pad locations. It's going to be difficult to locate a point where one can gain access to an exposed line.

So then as I see it I have three options:

Option 1: take it to Apple admit my mistake and hope they fix it (doubtful )

Option 2: scaventage the internet for a MacBook Pro 2017 Touchbar Logic Board in the hopes of replacing it. (Also very doubtful I would think)

Option 3: Sell my MacBook Pro 2017 touchbar for Parts in the hope that I get some money back and get an cheaper computer. Any one know what’s my computer worth ?

It IS possible to fix lol just going to be a nightmare because someone has to jump every single pad. More than likely, is fixable just for the right price. Have to use openboardview software to find where each lead goes

I couldn‘t find the fpc 6 pin connector with 0,5 mm grid on the internet. However I managed to connect the flex cable directly on the mother board with 0,3 mm isolation filament! It was tough but I‘m so happy that it works again :)

I have the same problem on my 2016 macbook. Would you be able to solder it?

さんによる

I just had the same problem and saw your solution. I'm looking for micro soldering services or something to recover my information. If you have by any chance made a guide on how you did it it would be awesome. Thanks!

I was also thinking of doing this – but how do the wires not cross each other and short circuit? Is this a special kind of wire?

It's actually a crime of easy it was to pull this socket off. I barely even got the latch off and it just popped off. I am super sensitive with these things – and have repaired my iPhones and encountering a similar socket, but the one in the MacBook is held to the board by spider webs.

@samuelvill84333 Assuming you haven't shorted out your board, the Mac should still start without a battery. Just completely disconnect the battery from the logic board, put some telflon tape over the connector so it doesn't accidentally hit anything. Plug your MacBook in to power and hit the power button. It will be really slow – as the battery provides more for some reason, but you'll get to a point where you could connect an external hard drive and copy over anything you need.
