Filter came out, can I put a jumper?

Hi!

So I was performing a simple screen swap and to my surprise the phone did not came on after finished the job. After a while looking what was failing (around 5 hours lol) I figured out I accidentally pulled a tiny filter. According to my schematics this filter belongs to the AP_TO_LCM_RESET_L (which I think explains the no image/backlight problem, correct me if I am wrong).

The specs are:

100K

1/32W

MF

The thing is, this filter is super tiny, and I don't think I am capable of putting back on its place with my hot air station.

Could I simply put a jumper connecting both pads or is it a bad idea?

Thanks for the help!

I presume you are referring to R2052 (on this diagram):

No, you can't just jumper it otherwise you would be shorting that line directly to ground. Not replacing it means that the line isn't properly pulled "low" when the output state is in an undefined state. You can read up on pull-down resistors here.

These are not easy parts to solder into place when you have no experience. You should be able to find a local micro-solderer to do this.

Hi Minho thanks for answering, it is cool to understand what I am actually doing.

I gave it a try and managed to solder it in, but it seems that I might just had knocked it off while removing the resin, because I still have no image.

Could it be because of a loose chestnut? About a week ago I actually performed a touch ic reflow on this same iPhone.

Thanks a lot!

Yes it's possible that too much heat could have caused other issues. But I would be more concerned about other passive components (filters, capacitors, resistors) doming loose below the epoxy near the connectors. That is a common issue following too much heat. You'll need to probe the entire circuit.
