Where is pinch point on display cable?
MacBook Pro 17" last four digits of the S/N: YX63. Display has problem described in several questions on the answer board, i.e. display lower half is muti-hued & non responsive sometimes. It is a frequent problem that comes and goes. Pressure on left side of screen or a slight rap on the display often cures it for a while. The display appears fine on a remote screen even when MacBook screen is half blank.
When top of MacBook is removed and hooked up without hinges connected everything works fine. This indicates that screen cable is somehow being pinched or otherwise affected when assembled. How do I find the pinch point and correct this problem?
Update
Correction on the S/N the last four digits are: YX6C

The question is who's going to stick their neck out to answer this one first? ;-)

Thanks for the input.
Since the earlier description I did install the screen on the top outer case and set it up off the MacBook. Occasional screen lines appeared but not to the extent or duration as before disassembling. So I believe the cable is the problem and it is more likely in the connectors than in the cable itself. So I will order a new cable.
Until then I have reassembled the MacBook and it is performing well. I can still get artifacts by squeezing the bezel but for the most part as long as it sits on the desk without moving it it is functional. But why have a MacBook if you have to leave it on the desk.
Again thanks and I will mark the question answered.
