My firestick is connected to my old Wi-Fi and that Wi-Fi is off now but I'm trying to connect it to my new Wi-Fi and it's not allowing me because it's telling me that it's not connected to my home network. My remote won't allow me to get into my settings to change the Wi-Fi. Can someone help me? Also the charger that came with the firestick is gone so I am using my phone charger. Is that a problem? Help me please someone!

Hi, had the same problem so contacted amazon customer service. Once you get the screen saying “…unable to connect to network…” try to press and hold the home button on your remote for circa 10 seconds - this should bring up in the bottom right corner message that new remote has been connected. Use the remote to navigate to settings to set up your new network. Voila

It stopped the search for my old Wifi connection and allowed my firestick remote to access my firestick.

In answer to your question about charging, It's fine if you use your phone charger, It's probably not the most efficient since it's not rated for it but it'll be fine.
To get your remote working again and to get to your network settings lets try re-pairing the remote.
• Hold down the Select button for 10 seconds to put the remote into pairing mode.
After completing this step your TV should say in the bottom right that the remote has been paired.
Now you can go to your network settings and set everything as it should be.

Woah woah you totally dont understand the actual question. His remote wont work if he has no wifi connected to the firestick! so how can he change any settings!

Try changing he batterys in the remote. This surprisingky worked for me even tho they werent mire than 6 months old.

There are lots of users who face Fire stick not connecting to Wi-Fi issue.
weak internet signal.
Wrong Wi-Fi password.

I had this problem. I changed the batteries in my firestick remote & that worked, last thing i expected as they were new batterys were only put in 6 months ago!

It’s as simple as unplugging the micro USB from the stick itself and plugging it back in. This should work.

Sometime user might come across Wi-Fi connectivity issue while using the Fire TV device. More reason behind this error such as wireless router, router configuration, wrong account setting, wrong Amazon account, outdated software version and more.
If you are recently moved to another country then change the country and language in account setting. Otherwise, you can get error “Fire stick won’t connect to Wi-Fi” as well as” Registration Failure Error”.
You can try restarting your device or Wi-Fi modem. If restart doesn’t work to troubleshooting fire TV won’t connect to Wi-Fi then you have the option to reset your modem.

That wont work as the firestick is not connected to a network so the firestick app will not be able to find the firestick.

Anyone with a firetv first generation (I don't know if 2nd gen has a usb connection in the back) u can use your PS3 or 4 control? I dont know which one my son has. I plugged it in with a regular usb charger (The one I used to charge my android phone) and immediately was able to access my box and pair my remote and connect to my network. I was so desperate to fix it and tried that and it worked like a charm!!! Soooo easy Too.

For the connected with problems from galant2004**try a hard restart by pulling the power cable (USB-Mini plug) out of the Fire Stick for about 5 seconds. Having then reconnected it, the Fire Stick rebooted. Almost like magic the unit went straight to the Home Screen. I was back up and running**. Mine wouldn't detect a previously forgotten network that I needed to use again. I had to press home button for 5-10 sec n go do the reset option that way and 4 some reason also change the HDMI input on tv to HDMI 2 instead of one because it acted like it was broke with a black screen. But only do this if the starred section(**) is not working. I did not have to factory reset it finally detected it. To control one without Wi-Fi or remote use a Bluetooth remote with phone until we get u one.

I've had a firestick for the past 3 years and worked fine but as soon as comcast up dated their systems. My stick will not connect to wifi but the wifi connect to everthing else in the the house and all comcast can tell my me is to call amazon and they know that they did something to your tv so it won't connect so you canbuy their sorry ass cable.

I fixed it! There is a “reset firestick to factory settings” command in the settings menu. You have to dig a little for it. After it resets, when setting up as new, firestick connected to my new wifi without any problem. Then it proceeded to update and go through various reset cycles, which took some time until finally promising to give up all my privacy rights lol, it works fine again.

Fortunately, just a restart can solve this issue. if this dosen’t works then you can re-establish wifi network on firestick. it will definitely work.

Down load the Fire stick app to your phone. The app remote works.

Again the firestick app needs to find the firestick but without network connection to the firestick it cant find it.
I still haven't seen an answer to your question as this is my problem. The Fire TV phone app isn't recognizing the firestick as there is no network connection...I'm on vacation and forgot the remote...how can I change wifi setting to the wifi here at the vacation house?
Make a hotspot with the old network name use a 2nd device to connect to the hotspot. Then on that device you download the fire stick app. From that device you'll be on the network of old through hotspot tricking the stick so you can change the network settings.
The best I can think of besides reboot Nd loose all your old saved apps VPN data etc. It's frustrating and takes a minute but it works. Let us know how it works out...there's a video on this on youtube.as we know the remotes a crap and stop working,batteries die in 3 days haha.but it works.
I moved no old network to use to connect to. Best bet is ask Amazon to make a option on these that is universal to/ or when moving or service disconnected or new company wifi provider. It a headache.
Hello I am an MSCE, and Network administrator. I have come acrossed this scenerio before. Some hardwares do not play well together. Comcast Cable means a new box! If you did not forget the original network in the firestick and then reconnect it is not going to connect.... Do this. "Its a conflict with encryption algorithms on the new Modem causing your problem" Just remove the wifi password on modem, Make it unsecured. Then it will connect no problem. This is a known issue in the field with certain ISP owned modems. If its an existing modem, then it may just be a firmware update on the stick or modem that caused the disconnect... Either way this will work.
My fire stick would pick up wifi signals from miles away but it won't pick up or connect to router that is literally next to it. I've tried everything. Please help

I bought a used firestick from a friend ….I'm using the firesrick remote app on my Android for my firestick because she had lost the original remote …but I got a new WiFi network and I can't get into my firestick because it isn't the same WiFi network as the previous one it was on…how can I get my remote on my phone to pair to my firestick so I can get in and factory reset my wifi and reregister the whole system into my name and email and account

I have same issue. Had internet disconnected so got it turn back on but have new connecting information and no way to change it. The fire stick will not let me use the remote so no way to change the connecting info. I have tried unplugging the power from stick, changing batteries in remote, trying a new remote, and there is no way to restore to factory settings without the remote and no way to change network settings without remote. So basically a paper weight now, what a poor design!

The fixes in this section are not fixed at all. Bandaid for some. But I have the issue and changing batteries in the remote doesn't work. Unable to select settings or home.
