Why I can't connect to the internet?

My HP Laptop suddenly disconnected to the Internet. I already Reset the Network, I already update the Network Adapter "as what other tutorial did" and I already restart my laptop. I tried to connect my laptop to my iPhone's Hotspot and it's working (Yes i can surf as well) But when i tried to connect to our router again, it says "Can't connect to this network". What should i do?

I hope you can help me with this. Thank you so much!

Hi @onlyrhika1004 ,

As you haven't said that you have tried turning off/on the router try the following:

1. Turn off the laptop.

2. Turn off the power to the router.

3. Turn on the power to the router.

4. Wait until the router has initialized and then turn on the laptop and try to connect to the network.

Thankyou so much sir! But is it possible that the problem is in the router? I also try to connect this laptop at my house and here in office. Can't connect to both. If i will reformat the Laptop will it work? Thank you again.

Hi @onlyrhika1004 ,

Assuming that it works OK now in your office.

It could just be a glitch. Sometimes the data in the router gets corrupted and it needs to be refreshed occasionally.

Suggest that you try the "power refresh' option first before you decide to reformat the laptop. Can you try another device such as a phone to see if it connects OK when the laptop can't?

If it continually happens and the phone can't connect either then I would look to updating the firmware in the router(s) if it is possible. Are they both the same make and model number?

Do you have many AC power problems where you are? Power surges or small outages for example. These can contribute to problems with the router if it is left continually powered on.

Yes. My Handphone and ipad can connect to the same router / internet. Only this laptop can't connect. :( Will try to reset the router and will see if there's any changes. Thankyou again!

Hi @onlyrhika1004 ,

How strong is the WiFi signal for the network in your laptop?

Can you connect if you have the laptop right next to the router?

Have you checked your laptop's Firewall or A/V settings.

Try starting the laptop in safe mode with networking to see if you can connect. If you can then a 3rd party program is the problem. The trick is to find out which one is the culprit.

I am having the same problem. But none of these solutions are working in my favor. Its the same thing. This happened a couple months back and I had to ship it to get repaired. They never really explained why it happened in the first place, just said it has something to do with my hard drive.
