Replacing hard drive to solid state
I need to replace my current hard drive with a solid state drive. I purchased the drive, I need to know how to replace it myself.

Assuming you have a Hard Drive currently, its most likly your MacBook is built between 2009 and 2012 and is a non-retina this link should help as these models are basically the same for hard drive replacement.

If you are unsure if the device is a retina model you can easily identify it by weather it has the "MacBook Pro" Branding at the bottom of the display.

@lewbar123 While your answer is correct, it is usually best to wait to get full information. Why does he need to replace the hard drive? Is there a problem? Does it have issues specific to a particular model that are known to us, i.e. Hard drive cable issues.
"I need to replace my current hard drive with a solid state drive." Unless he states later on to me he wants to change his hard drive for an ssd therefore I've giving him the relevant details and links to do so. Until he states he has an issue it's all assumption.
@lewbar123 - The system Philip selected is a generic level of the MacBook Pro 13" models so we are not sure if it's a HDD model or a SSD model. The term 'hard drive' is often used to describe both by novices so its best to focus on what 'is' the system and then go to the next steps.
I should also point out the 13" Unibody models tend to have issues with the HD SATA cable so we often point to that as well.

We really need to know which model. Jump over to this web site: EveryMac - Lookup plug in your systems serial number it will tell you what your systems specs are and with that info we can assist you on putting it in and setting it up. Paste the systems URL here for us to see.
