Driving Across Country, Should I be Worried?

I have driven this vehicle from CT to TX and back, I am about to do it again. I

am not the original owner, I am the third owner and I have had it since 2015.

I keep up with all oil changes and have had the brakes done, new tires and

all belts and fluids checked ( radiator hose was replaced) No serious

problems with the car as far as I can tell. The electrical system has been

crazy since I got the car I have been able to hear a hum, and sometimes the

fan comes on when I am idling even though the car display and feel the

hood reveal the car is not overheating. What if anything should I be worried

about breaking down? It will mostly all be highway driving.

MaryAnn Martinez anything is possible but not very probable. Continue with proper maintenance and proper tune-up and "keep on truckin'"! No much sense in worrying about it until you actually have an incident.

The fan coming on is all part of the normal operation of your vehicle. When the thermostat opens, allowing coolant into the engine, the hot coolant is returned to the radiator. The temperature sensors tell the fan to turn on to cool off the hot liquid. When driving at highway speeds, the fan may not come on at all. The air being forced through radiator is usually enough to keep the engine running at normal operating temperature.

From what you described, you shouldn't have any worries about your trip.
