MacBook Pro 15" Early 2011 not powering but charger shows green light

I'm making some upgrades on my laptop so it currently does not have a battery installed inside of it. I am only relying on the AC Adapter as a power source at the moment. With that being said, when I plug the charger in, it lights up green as if there was a full battery inside. When I press the power button, nothing happens. The logic board just sits there. I tried jumping the power pads but that didn't work either (maybe I did it wrong?). Is my logic board dead? I was told that if it were dead the charger wouldn't even be lighting up. What can I do?

I'm using a 60W charger and in order to use the AC Adapter as the only power source, I need to have an 85W charger. Is this true?

Review this Apple guide: Find the right power adapter and cable for your Mac notebook. Make sure you have the correct charger for your system. Also be careful you get a REAL Apple unit! There are a lot of fakes out there!
