Why is my mac not switching on after replacing hdd

Hi there,

I have a macbook pro 13" late 2011, as most of us, from time to time we want to upgrade, so i first upgraded the ram, from 4gb to 16gb, all good there. then after a week i bought a SSD and a caddy to replace the optical drive and have a faster laptop.

I followed the guide on this page as how to do that, followed every single step, put it all together, and now my mac is not switching on, tried every trick in the book, i tried to reset pram, smc, tried with the battery on the mac, and nothing, tried with battery and power cable, nothing, tried just with power cable only and nothing, tried to jump start witht the power pads and nothing, so i thought i would put everything as it was before the upgrade, original hard drive and optical drive, and still not switching on, no sounds or signs of power on laptop, trying reseting pram and smc with the orignal hdd and optical drive but also no help, seems like that there is no power going to logic board at all, the side button of the mac for the battery check works and says that there is charge on battery, and when plugged it alson shows orange light as it is charging, but nothing will turn it on, have anybody had similar problem and got it solved? any help will be appreciated.

Disconnect the battery and the mag-safe. Press and hold the power button for ten seconds. Reconnect the battery, then the mag-safe. You should get a spontaneous reboot.

hi mayer, i should have updated my post,

after fiddling with it all day long, removing and replacing hdd and optical drive, i did try this earlier one, it seems to get a reboot, but only the optical drive starts, not so sure the hdd is starting as the indicator light in front of my mac will not go on, the battery status checker works, it shows me that the battery is fully charged, , it showed orange when was charging, the problem now is after all the display is pitch black, not even a bip or chime, chatting to some apple authorized repais centre online, some said its most likely to be the logic board, i didnt give up hopes yet, really hope to find a solution without having to fork out loads of $$$, thanks for the advice, any more?

hey mayer, unfortunately my macbook doesnt fall in that category, anyhow i has a chat with a macadviser through apple and i was told that my mac is now considered vintage, and they wont even run a diagnostic on it, as they dont hold parts for it anymore, and therefore they dont service it, was advised to go to an apple authorised repair centre, contact one of them and they have a flat fee for diagnostic £90, and a flat fee repair 350£, and i would need to purchase any part if needed, quiet hefty prices if u ask me, as you can buy a second hand working mac for that price. running out of ideas of what to do, guess i will be stuck with my old windows laptop, till i will be able to fix my mac or buy a new one as repair prices are very expensive. maybe soon someone will come with some ideas, thanks for the help anyway
