Amp watt output to subwoofers
So if I have 2 12s with 600 watt max each running to 1 terminal on a one channel mono block amp. And let’s say I have 500 Watt amp connected ,will 500 Watts go to both subs or will each get 250 Watts?

Hi @maxwellh ,
You have to be careful how you connect them.
If you connect them in a parallel configuration to the amp output, you will reduce the resistance (halve) that the amp sees and the current will increase (double - Ohm's law). Hopefully your amp can handle the increased current and not overload or blow.
If you connect them in series configuration to the amp output, you increase (double) the resistance but will not endanger the amp.
You will have to view the ratings of the amp to decide which is the better option
Here is a link that probably explains it better than I can

@jayeff Thank you for that link , I checked my impedance I have two 4 ohm speakers wired in parallel with a two ohm load and my amp is rated for 2 ohms stable I’m just looking for a bigger amp and I was wondering how the power was shared and I found out if it’s wired parallel, series, or series/parallel if the impedance on the speakers are the same it shares it equally between the 2. Thanks again
