Plugged 120V Receiver in to 240V mains accidentally

Hi!

I plugged my Onkyo TX-NR535 ''audio receiver in to the wrong power supply by mistake and it now won't turn on. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

I've had a look at the fuses and none of them appear to have blown obviously. What else should I look for?

Do I need a multimeter to diagnose the problem?

Hi @gref ,

You will need a DMM (Digital Multimeter) and the ability to read circuit diagrams to find and fix your problem. (or at least the ability to recognize component parts on the pcb)

Here is a link to the service manual for your receiver.

When the sentence below the document preview box changes from This file is downloadable free of charge: ...processing... to This file is downloadable free of charge: Get Manual, click on the Get Manual. This is the download link. Be patient, it takes a little while to find the file.

Here is an image of the Power Supply control circuit taken from the service manual (the first area to check).

Safety Warning

Do the initial visual checks with the power totally disconnected from the receiver and especially take heed of the notice as outlined in the red box in the image

If there is no power being received at the point indicated by the blue arrow in the image above, then the relay shown highlighted in the green box will not operate to extend the AC power into the unit.

If all this appears to be too daunting then perhaps a better way to solve your problem is to find the board number printed on the power supply pcb and search online for a replacement board.

I tried searching for BAPS 1560 (TX NR535) to no avail but perhaps the actual board number may be different.

Hopefully this is of some help
