I have the same issue. I contacted Neato and worked with their tech department for awhile. Finally the guy said it could be a bad battery and suggested I purchase a new battery. I did that and it is still not working. Just wanted to warn you encase they make that suggestion. I'm going to take mine apart and see if I can see something near the switch.

I have discovered a poor solder job on the switch in my D85.

See before and after pictures below.

Disassembles same as other D models.

Was there a problem before? Did re-solder fix the issue? I have a D80 that has stopped working properly and am looking for some help identifying the issue.

I had a similar issue on my D75. Resoldering seems to help, many thanks for the hint.

But, today I got the "turn my switch to on" message again...

I had a very similar problem with my D75. It started asking for switching the power button to ON despite having it in the ON position already and the battery indicator showing empty battery. I opened it and the battery was fully charged even with sustained load (1.5A). It turned out the power switch had bad internal contact (dirty?). The multimeter showed no continuity in ON position. Some IPA alcohol, some ON/OFF exercise and voilá, problem solved (till next time).

Mine has the same issue. Is this a common problem? Neato should recall the machine.

How can I reach that switch?

Thank you.

Hey there,

We actually had the same problem as well as one where the robot would randomly stop with a "Please clear my path" error (link to my question posting the same information I guess), and then would at other times do this random left-right-left-right freakout, as well as getting the same error you have/had. In our case, it actually turned out to be defective/aging capacitors on the board, and desoldering/replacing these solved the issue! We had already tried a new battery which had fixed the "Please Clear my path" issues in the past, but no dice this time. The capacitors required seem to be relatively standard and available at standard electronics stores, and there are only about 7 of them, but potentially something worth trying for anyone else who has the same issue :)

The exact capacitor type/size I can't remember off the top of my head (think they're Electrolytic 100uf/35v), but if you Google there are some forums (Russian Robotics and Neato forums from memory) that go into this a bit more as to exactly what kind of Caps you need as well.

Hope this helps someone!

Found a couple of the forum links, though not the one I could remember in particular: http://www.robotreviews.com/chat/viewtop...

Still should be a starting point though - different issue, but same capacitors causing it :)
