Why type of electronic failure is my 2005 Silverado displaying?

First, about a month ago, I noticed intermittent failure of the horn. Then I noticed the bell alarms for the seat belt and key left in the ignition is not functioning. This morning it started right up (after two weeks sitting). I moved the truck to the house to load - so shut it off, loaded up, went to start it and all I can hear is a loud clicking sound. I don't know if it's the starter or what. How does the starter act when it is failing? Does this sound like a typical steering column electronics failure? Being 75 miles from the nearest town, I'm stumped at what to try...
