Arte comes out 6", spins in circles, wants base

Arte comes out from the base about 6", spins in circles, says base on the screen. No error code. It is not able to dock into the base, it just sits there until the battery dies. I have cleaned his eyes, checked his wheels, the dust bin is empty, I took out the brush and cleaned it, the side spinning brushes are clean and rotate. I am out of ideas.

Were you able to figure out what was wrong with your robot?

Did you get it repaired?

Mine acts the same way and appears to have a bad IR proximity sensor on the front right of the bumper (when looking down on the bot).

It doesn't appear to be an easily serviced part since since the IR emitter and receiver are in a common housing with just a single two-conductor connection running back to to the control board. The emitter is working but the robot still detects that there is an object close by so I have to believe that the problem lies in the receiver or the circuitry that drives the process. Or, I guess it could be that the firmware isn't calibrated correctly and is seeing the IR module value as out of range for "all clear".

The wheels internals are shot! my starting to do that after a few times it was caught on wires and struggle for the whole battery to get out, finally the transmission cassette stripped and the robot now can revers out of the dock but as soon as it moves forward the stripped wheel stays put and the good wheel turns the unit in circles until battery dies.

Need to replace the broken wheel hub. To test if this is the case for you, go into manual mode and see if you robot can move in a straight line by giving the forward moving command.

Mine is doing this now. She reverses out of her base, spins around, and then goes right back home.

Enabling “Climb” mode allows her to do her work (although now I have to close the bathroom door because she can get over the sill — clever little bot!)

I’m going to investigate a little further when I can set up an operating table. I suspect it’s related to distance tracking on the front wheel? That’s the only reason I can figure that enabling “Climb” mode would help.
