Black edges appearing on sides and bottom
After a battery repair from authorised service centre black edges have started to appear whereas it wasn't visble before. They are saying that it is a feature. Can anybody clarify that

I can't confirm or deny the dark edges as a feature, but you might try a force reboot or restart and see if it goes away. I'd also make sure the screen is fully back into place like before the repair (with respect to the case/rest of the phone), ie no excessive gaps or strange bulges.

for some insight into what it would entail if you were to open it up and try to diagnose. At this point, though, I'd say double-check all of your settings to see if it could actually be a feature (that you could turn off). If you're not sure whether it was there before the repair or not, check an old screenshot from before the repair.
