iPhone 6 not turning on after screen replacement

Hi all iFixIt forum people.

I recently tried to repair an iPhone 6 screen for a friend of me.

I followed an YouTube video and it all worked just perfectly to begin.

After about 15 minutes of trying to get the screen to fit back in the slot, I managed to disconnect the screen replacement cables, and when I plugged them back in the screen did not longer work. The phone wont turn on and is not being recognized by iTunes.

I've tried to disconnect the battery and all of that stuff also.

I have another replacement screen laying around also.

What parts do I need to buy to repair it?

Can someone please help me!

Best regards, Henry

Turn the phone on with screen connected and put a flashlight to screen to see if you see a faint image. If so, it's a backlight issue. Post back if you need any help.

Have you tried the original broken screen or another repair part?

The biggest issue here is how did you disconnect the cables? Was the cable shield not already screwed down? Did you reseat the cables when the battery was still connected? If so, you could have shorted something out.

The original screen is not working at all, so I can't use that one. The battery was connected during the screen replacement yes, but I don't know if the phone were on or off during the replacement. Any other suggestions?

It doesnt matter if the phone was on or off. The battery being plugged in still can cause a short.

There's a few possibilities in this scenario:

1. The phone received static damage or had a short during the replacement. This is less common but certainly possible. The fix for this would be extremely complicated or would require a whole new motherboard.

2. The connector for the charging port isn't properly connected or there is dust in the charging port. This would explain why the phone isn't recognized by iTunes. I suggest cleaning both the connector and the port.

3. The phone has a U2 IC problem which needs professional repair. The way to test this is you plug in another iPhone battery which is charged and the phone should turn on with that battery but still won't charge or connect to iTunes.
