One side of my headphone wont work

When i use my headphones with a wire the only side that works is the left side, but when i use them via bluetooth both sides work. I have tried changing the aux cable but still the same problem.

Commonly faults like one side doesn’t work or doesn’t charge, etc. means one problem - broken internal cable which connects both sides together. As the charger board(in the right) and battery(in the left) are situated in opposite sides, (also joystick on the left side). All these works trough 10 wire cable which connects earcups and provides all functions.

According this, any of these 10 can lose contact so the problems appeared can vary around sound issues, button issues, charging issues and connectivity issues.

For me, biggest challenge is how to find proper cable which is similar in size and quality to genuine.

10 wires inside are separately isolated conductors, covered by some paint without plastic isolation. Like simple 3 wire headphone’s cable but 10 wire.

So if anyone have a link for such cable, people’ll say a lot of thanks, as i see it’s weak part of construction and could appear often. All I could found on AliExpress - 9wire.

This is the best answer. I have the same issue with my current Marshall Major 3 Bluetooth headphones. The L hear (with the joystick and battery) does not work, but the right ear will work. The problem occurs intermittently (so the speaker is not blown as others suggest).

I also noticed in my case that after freshly charging the left speaker sometimes works. The left speaker (on my headphones) is easy to open up, but I haven't seen anything obvious at the connection. As you point out the cable between the two ears may need to be replaced.

E: I just opened my set up and here's some advice.

1. the circuit board in the left ear (for mine) is super simple and as that is the one not working for me it's really easy to replace.

2. You are correct there are a lot of cables that go back and forth (space is a premium). That being said you likely don't need to replace all 10, you should be able to get away with just adding one between headphones to make it work.

3. Gauge matching can be done by guess and check or some googling of wire sizes. I didn't really have to replace anything, it's just shotty workmanship by Marshall in the headphones. The connections weren't soldered correctly or the cables were run poorly causing them to bend and lose their signal.

In any case, the only thing I did was adjust the wires so that the tension on them wasn't excessive (they really were not run well). If it keeps happening I may replace a wire, but it will be only 1 and I will use heat shrink to make it look nice or whatevver.

I have the very same problem with my Marshall Major II bluetooth. I just made the wiring diagram for it and drawn the same conclusion as this answer. I will post pics of the repair on imgru and put the link here if I get it sorted.

I was able to fix the headphones! As I wrote in my first message, I was able to find only 9line replacement cable instead of 10, which I need. I had some time to think about different ways to solve the problem. One of them was to use 9core cable + 1 separate core. With lots of soldering work, it's possible to do. You would get kinda 3 parts cable. Hidden in the headband middle part would be 9core + 1 separate wire which would be soldered with pieces of old cable, I had to cut and test for consistency by resistance measuring. 20 points of solder work would hide in the headband and all work would be done.

It was awesome surprise, when I went to saved link to one of few aliexpress stores, who was selling proper cables and found new 10 wire cable, I missed so long.

After getting those, I was able to easy fix the problem, mindfucking me more than two month. Link for this cable below:

I have a pair of Marshall Monitor ll A.N.C. that had the exact same problem. I just went to this website:

https://support.marshallheadphones.com/h...

I followed the instructions, and my problem was fixed within 10 seconds:)

Got the same problem. When comparing the connector on the cable with a connector on an old cable (that works), the newer one is 1mm shorter, so my theory is that the poles of the connector doesn’t align properly with the one in the headset.

In my case the left one was not working, but the problem was inside the speaker itself. It would start working if I put a little bit of pressure on the right-bottom corner of the membrane (place where the wire goes inside the speaker and starts looping). Since that was inside the speaker I didn't try to open it up and as a quick fix put a small amount of cotton on top of it and put the cover on. Still works for me
