Right way to put thermal paste

Hi all,

I want to replace my thermal paste on my MBP, because I have the feeling that it is very old grease. My machine got the square chip for the GPU and a rectangular for the CPU. I read different methods about putting it on the right way.

Should I spread the grease or a small line and let the heatsink do the work?

Thanks in advance!

Its all a matter of personal preference. I myself like to cover the chip completely . Apply a small amount of thermal paste about the size of a grain of rice then spread evenly over the entire surface . Others may say let it press out on its own . A small amount in the center of the chip and when you press it down it will spread out itself . Either or works yet you will get fanatics for both methods who will explain why the other method is wrong. But both work and whatever works for you is best .Just check your temps if possible after the install. Hope this helps
