How to fix broken/stuck hinge

So awhile back I seemed to have broken the hinge plastic cover thingy on my laptop, the laptop continued to work fine and close properly until a couple of days ago when it started to crack the back cover and didn't seem to close correctly (was uneven, had to push it down a little bit). Now the other night I heard a big crack and suddenly the plastic cover came off and now my computer screen will because the back cover and my laptop screen start coming apart from eachother. It's a bit frustrating because it is a tiny piece of my laptop that has rendered it useless because I can't close it. It seems the plastic part was glued to the metal hinge part and that is how the laptop closed, I don't really understand how but the hinge itself seems to be intact, it just doesn't work without the plastic cover.

So my question is what would be the best way to go about this, I don't want to replace the entire screen because that would be too expensive. Would simply gluing the plastic cover back onto the hinge and cover work? I just need some ideas because I don't know what to do at this point and don't want to bring it in for some repair that will cost hundreds of dollars.

I have some pictures I posted also https://imgur.com/a/hNuf4
