iPad stuck on Apple screen with progress bar during restore

Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help. I've bought a ipad 3rd gen that appears to be stuck in dfu state.

On plugging in to the pc or mac iTunes recognises it as a ipad in recovery mode and allows me to attempt to restore it.

Every time it gets as far as displaying the apple logo and a progress bar on the iPad. But the progress bar never moves. In fact, I think it would stay like that forever. The longest I've left it is 18 hours!

I (suspect foolishly) bought reiboot pro, believing its claims to solves such problems. But it has done the same thing, stuck on the progress bar.

Please, can anyone help?

The only time I have experienced an issue like this was with a water damaged iPad.

Did you buy this used or new, was it working when you got it?

Hi it wasn't working when I bought it. I expected a restore might do it. The guy said the error started with an update. I thought water damage might not work at all?
