i bought it off a friend, and i need to know how i change the name? i synced it to my computer, and edited it on there but on the device it still has the same name as before. But whenever i reconnect it to my computer it has the name that i out on it? please help me, its kind of aggravating haha.

on the left side of itunes where you see the lists- library , playlist ,device , etc you will see your ipod symbol and then the name next to it. click on the name you want to change- typing b ox will open. hey presto! name change.

The device appears on the left as specified.
On the left of it is a triangle, expand, or unexpand.
On the right of it appears an eject symbol in circle (when mouseover name)
No amount of clicking allows selection of the name.
It just expands & unexpands the drop-downs of music, audiobooks, ... music somethings, playlists?

I am unable to change details the name will not highlight.
I have deleted the music and other items using itunes.
I wish to sell the nano 5th gen ipod and want to clear my details But am unable to do any of the things suggested including reset. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. But nothing works. Id love some help.
You have to click the ipod name from the sync page in itunes, not from the main menu that shows it under devices. Click the little ipod icon near the top left of the window, which opens up to show you all the sync options and settings for the nano. When you click on the name on the left, it's editable here.
