Could you please let us know the model, and try to explain this more clearly? When you say it moves and you can't make control, do you mean it is moving, but it is lagging/slow, does not move at all or something else?

@sendbad449 - Sadly the A 1278 covers quite a few systems. How about pasting your S/N here: EveryMac - Lookup and then paste your systems URL here for us to see.

@sendbad449 - Can you tell us which is your system?

Guys @reecee & @iceplow How about first getting clarity on which MacBook Pro he has!

Throwing pasta at the wall to see if it sticks is not a wise direction here. I can list at least four other possibilities but without knowing which model you're just guessing!

We need to know which model is it a Core 2 Duo or a i5/7 system it does make a difference!

@sendbad449 If the cursor is jumping by itself it is most likely a faulty trackpad issue (I assume the trackpad cable was replaced too?), interference by liquid damage on the board (trackpad connector), or possibly an expanded battery, but this would have been noticed when replacing the trackpad initially.

@danj as far as I know, the actual movement of the trackpad and click functionality is dependent on the trackpad, since the signals/voltages coming from the trackpad do not determine the exact movement coordinates, etc. All the logic board does is move the cursor accordingly, depending on the input on the trackpad itself (finger movement speed, etc), since the trackpad and cable have the required touch sensors and components (like an iPhone digitiser). The difference you're speaking of between Core 2 Duo and i5/i7 is only relevant if the trackpad is not working at all, and only works in the boot select menu, which is not the problem in this case.

Please let me know any other possibilities in this case, always happy to learn :)

Give the trackpad a good wipe, residue can interfere with touch functionality.

If that fails, you probably have a faulty trackpad. Buy a new one, check the trackpad connector for liquid damage and test the new one.

I have never seen this issue caused by the logic board myself, always the trackpad.

This could be from the Logic Board. I have seen the issue happen from the Logic Board failing this explain why the TrackPad is acting up even with an external mouse being plugged in and used. Of course to be more accurate on this I would need to know a little more about whats going on. This could also be something inside the user a "software issue"

I was voted down but if they have replaced the TrackPad multiple times and the issue persists with an External mouse what else could it be? Either Software issues or it is the Logic Board! Sure you could try another TrackPad but if you have opened the computer and disconnected the TrackPad and then plugged in an External and the same issue happens its the Logic Board for sure.
