Hi,
If I understand you correctly the battery alone cannot run the laptop normally,i.e. screen stays bright and the charger cannot run the laptop and charge the battery with a bright screen either. Is this correct?
Perform the following to try and isolate the problem
1. Without starting the laptop, fully charge the battery. When it is fully charged, start the laptop on the battery only and watch what happens to the display. Does it stay bright or does it dim very quickly? If it dims it indicates that the battery is failing.
2. Switch off the laptop and remove the battery and then start the laptop on the charger only. Does the screen stay bright? If so, it indicates that the charger is working well enough to run the laptop and most probably is good enough to charge a good battery at the same time.
If the battery is failing it is probably dragging down the charger supply away from the laptop so that the laptop is not getting enough power for the screen to work properly

Hi,
Another few questions.
Was it working OK before the upgrade to Win 10?
Was it working OK after the upgrade to Win 10 and has just started (2.5 weeks ago) or has it been like this since the upgrade?

Try disabling ambient sensor --> fn + A
