Auto Brigness gone after screen replacement

I recently replaced the screen on my iPhone 6. After replacement I seem to have lost my auto brightness option. It seems as if typing is a bit different as well.

I've pulled it back apart and reseated the cables but still no luck. Any help on this would be great.

I ordered the screen with all that stuff already built in. I did everything exactly as instructions stated. I don't have my old screen to test with since I sent it in to be recycled and it was pretty much smashed beyond use after removing it.

When you replaced your screen, did you transplant the front camera and sensors to the new screen or where they part of the replacement screen?

Along with the camera, there is a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor. That is the one that adjusts the brightness. If you transferred the sensors, you may have put it in incorrectly. Follow this guide to double check.

If the replacement screen came with the camera and sensors, it may have a defective sensor. You could use the original one to test.

Otherwise, check your connections again.

Not sure I commented in the right spot. See new comment above.

It's always better to comment on the answer...it's easier to follow later on in case you get multiple answers and comments.

If the replacement screen had the sensors, check the connections. It may be a bad or improperly positioned sensor.

I've noticed that if you had auto brightness enabled before starting the screen replacement, the auto brightness will set the screen usually to lowest brightness when you test the screen without the front camera plugged in as that has the ambient light sensor as you said.

Damage to the board is very highly unlikely and it's probably an aftermarket screen quality issue.

So I again checked all connections and although i didn't swap any sensors I checked those too and I still don't have the auto brightness option. I'm not saying it doesn't work, it doesn't even show up in the menu, which leads me to believe its a bad connection or a defect with the replacement screen i bought.

I just want to echo hemmingnathan, after the screen replacement auto bright was even lost as menu choice, additionally, even at full brightness the screen is not all that bright, don't know what, if anything can be done? Everything else works perfectly,

Hi guys,

just want to add my experience.

I have replaced screen for one that is most likely not original one.

During replacement I found out that proximity "fell off" the flex cable so I ordered new front camera flex.

After replacement it has faulty front camera - so get another as replacement and installed. Since than Auto Brightnes is completelly missing in settings (or at least I thought so it is related to this, but maybe it is just related to IOS 11? as per thread attached bellow). It has moved in the settings since IOS 11, as per https://discussions.apple.com/thread/796... and https://discussions.apple.com/thread/807... but I have it missing even on new location as it is mentioned in that thread ...

There are quite many users that are reporting similar issue ...

Well I got another replacement, and situation is still same ...

I have tried connect old broken screen together with new camera, but autobrightness still missing ...

Tried to put iPhone to DFU, still same ...

So it is IOS 11 or somehow faulty motherboard, as it seems not related to camera or screen ...

To addition, with last camera change touch ID stopped working so it is really frustrating ...
