Mac won't turn on, replaced DC board.

MagSafe Burned out. Won't turn on.

/\ PREVIOUS POST 10th Oct /\.

Hello there,

Back in october my Macbook had a spark sound from the DC-in and my laptop shutdown with a burning-like smell from the ports.

After all this time, I finally managed to find time and funds for the DC-in replacement, I have followed the iFixIt guide of replacing the DC-in board.

After the replacement (around 15 minutes ago) and connecting the charger to the laptop, the charger stays green and the battery check button on the side shows 1 green dot which slowly fades away after a while, it doesn't blink which it should while charging the device.

Although there isn't any more burning smell from the ports, the device still doesn't turn on.

I have been advised to do some sort of Coconut battery check although I cannot access the mac due to the fact that it simply doesn't turn on.

I'm not sure if I should change the battery or not but if the problem lays in the motherboard (which a replacement can cost around £200) I'm not sure if I should even carry on with the fixing of the mac.

Can someone please let me know any sort of advise on the issue? Should I try and replace the battery or should I just dump the whole thing and get a new laptop?

The issue is definitely not in the battery, and is most likely in your motherboard, unfortunately :(. When your DC-in board was destroyed, the surge of electricity likely took out another important part of your motherboard - this is fixable, though! Take it to a store that does component-level motherboard repair and see what they charge.
