Why does my 97' Maxima jerk when I excelerate?
I am wondering why my 97' Nissan Maxima jerks when I excelerate? Also, what would make it skip while idle?

Have you had the codes read ? if not have the codes read at autozone or similar parts stores that provide the service. The skipping and the jerky accelerate are probably caused by a misfire but the cause can be many things this is why you need to have the codes read.
