Battery and dock connector changed but phone not charging
Hi,
I've got a customer which has a problem with her iPhone 6.
She told me that the phone doesn't charge anymore, she has brought it in to another store to get something fixed, they replaced the battery and the dock connector but the phone is still not charging.
Can you give me any advice on how to handle this and where to start to check what is broken.

So this is the case.
When the phone is plugged in, the charging symbol shows, even when I use my own charging cable and plug which are official.
I'm not sure what this could be, I would be pretty sure that the connector is just fine.
Could this be something based on the motherboard?
are you comfortable doing micro soldering? Without seeing the phone, I'd be leaning towards damage to the charging system, probably the power IC and probably related to water damage or using non-MFI certified cords.

Right now I'm not really comfortable with micro soldering. But how will I be able to have a good way to check whats not working and what is. I would love to be able to fix this phone, but I'm not sure how to handle this.

Everyone has their own way of going about troubleshooting, but I would have taken the same steps you did. I actually have a 5C on my bench that's in the same situation as yours and I just ordered a new dock and battery since $10 in parts makes sense.
The first thing I do is throw it on an inline power meter and make sure its drawing current. If it is, then I test the battery to make sure its charging and holding power. If that checks out, then I try a new dock connector since it takes all of 30 seconds to test. If that doesn't work, then I think board level.
I'm sure someone will jump on and tell me how I'm wrong, but that's how I've always done it. Trying a couple a $3 parts is more efficient than me wasting an hour testing components.

Oh...I don't install them. I just connect them. If they work, then they get installed. If not, then the original stays.

My bad, I just re-read the post, the client said they replaced the battery and dock connector.
I wonder does the phone still turn on with a known good working / charged battery?
If the phone does happen to turn on fine with a known good working battery and you have tested another charging dock with the phone on and it is still not charging then it is probably the U2 Tristar Charging IC chip at fault.
