keith, fairly easy job to remove and replace the engine brake cable. Check the attached links, video instruction and guide on changing the cable. Good luck.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Thanks for your answer. I learned later that I need Toro part # 108-8157. This is exactly what I need and will fit exactly without any adjustments. It's available online at $20 - $30.

Buy the replacement part and install it. Fairly easy did mine a week ago. Most hardware stores etc. have a brake cable.

Make sure to measure the length of cable that broke and buy one bit bigger to ensure you have enough cable length. (ie your broken cable measures 24 3/4 inches and the store has replacement cable that is 25 and one that's 27 buy the 27 inch)

In case you needed a manual as well.

Having difficulty inserting the plastic protrusion/lip combination in the receptacle on the side of the handle. It appears that the protrusion portion goes in first while holding the cable at right angle to the handle, followed by bringing the cable parallel to the handle thereby inserting the lip. However, the cable in this area is too rigid to navigate it so close to the nearby loop where the cable needs to be looped through. The cable brake is Toro # 108-8157 for the Toro Super Recycler Model 20091. Have a look at a picture of this cable to see what I'm talking about. Thanks for your help!
