bill chitwood "tap the top of screen and it would come back on" sounds like a TAB error. If it would be the display cable or other ribbon cable, you would have more than a single line going down the screen. The TAB is what connects the thin ribbon cables to the actual LCD panel. Open up your set, find the thin cable that enters your panel at the top and exert pressure where you see that line. If the line disappears or changes you know that it is a TAB error. These are usually not repairable but can be resolved for some time by installing anything between the ribbon cable and the case that will exert pressure.
