MSI GS63VR Headphone Jack Not Working

So I dropped my laptop on move-in day at my university. I dropped my laptop on its corner close to where the headphone jacks is located. The jack no longer works, the laptop does not detect and anything plugged into the jack. The jack looks fine, but I think something may have been broken internally. How should I go about this?

Hi,

I cannot find the service manual for your model laptop, but have found this link which describes the dis-assembly of a MSI GS43VR laptop which I believe may be very similar to yours in concept.

It shows that the headset jack is soldered onto the motherboard. Therefore as yours is most likely the same, it is possible that the jack has either been broken away from the board and needs to be soldered back into place or is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Here is a link that shows the dis-assembly of the laptop.

Hopefully this is of some help.

I've installed a 2.5" SSD in my GS63VR laptop a month ago. The 3x USB 3.0 ports and headphone/mic jacks are all installed on a small daughter board that's connected to the motherboard via a couple zif ribbon cables. I imagine a replacement daughter board is easily replaceable if you can find the correct part. I would contact MSI and see if they can replace it or provide a quote with the price of the part.
