Screen is is cracked & completely black still seems to be working.

Hi there,

I am currently on a contract from Vodafone with a Samsung galaxy s4 that will end this month. about a year ago I visited my auntie in the Caribbean and was sleeping on her bottom floor, her floor was marble and I was on a couch, I dropped the phone from knee height and the screen cracked...it was very annoying...it's been working fine ever since then, just the cracks in the phone had started to get progressively worse, I was planning on just changing the screen but hadn't got round to it yet.

A few days ago I was with my friend and she had sat on my phone by accident...when she gave it back to me the bottom left part of the screen was black and was unresponsive to touch, after a few hours it started to spread to the left of the screen, kind of like a glitchy patch, at that time most of the screen was responsive to touch, but it became progressively difficult... after a night since it happened, it seemed like there was a huge black ink stain in the middle of the screen, I could still see the edges of the screen, it was as if the ink stain was covering it, it's been a full day since then and the phone still works, turns on, charges, and everything, the LED light is functional, but the screen is completely black and unresponsive.

I can still hear my notifications and messages, it's frustrating because I have to contact people immediately and i have no way of checking my missed calls. I'm aware that I can simply by a new touch screen rather than just the glass, I realised this because the first replacement screen I searched for was quite expensive before my friend showed me I could just buy the glass, but it seems like I would have to by the expensive screen. I'm completely fine with repairing it myself, I'm quite an adept learner when it comes to those kind of things...I was just wondering if I could have any advice.

If anyone could get back to me asap with any information, I would be incredibly grateful
