When I turn the tv in it smells like burning plastic
When I turn on the tv or simply have it plugged in, it smells like burning plastic
You more than likely have an overloaded capacitor coming from the power supply. I dont know the exact model you have, but I had my power supply replaced under warranty a few years back for a know faulty set of capacitors they used in certain models.
I agree with Brian, it sounds like you experienced an overload problem. If you are brave, you can remove the back of the set(not hard to do), and look for a capacitor with a bulged top or opened top. If it located on a circuit board. Look for the part number of the circuit board; Samsung's usually start with a BP code. You then can go to websites like Shop Jimmy, E Bay, Amazon, and find a replacement board. Many circuit board are easy to replace.
Our Samsung tv that is only 3 years old now has a horrible chemical smell coming out of it. The tv works fine other than that. Any ideas on what could be wrong with it?

I just bought a used TV from Zia Records, it looks almost brand new and works amazing, it's a 32 inch Vizio flat screen, I bought it because I couldn't hook my GameCube or Wii to our Smart TVs in the house because they are only HDMI compatible, Nintendo recommend that I get a TV that is compatible instead of buying adapters, cords and converters that would cause harm to my GameCube, I tried buying one of those 3 in 1 HDTV converters for my GameCube and it didn't work, and now this TV I bought doesn't work either, every time I plug it in and play it, with in about a half our the smell of burning plastic emits from the TV, I have only had it for 2 days, I called Zia, they want me to bring it back and they will refund me, I am just going to buy a new TV from Walmart
