Hello
I have iMac 27 inch, Late 2013 and it came with 1 TB harddrive
I would like to upgrade to 5TB or 6TB
My question is is there a physical space in iMac casing to accomodate large capacity hard drive? if any one know if they tried what is a maximum TB it can fit within a space internally.

by consulting the guide to replace the hdd I do not think that there is much room to physically add another if not one or 2 ssd ssd hdd instead of the original. there are also more subtle ssd last generation like in the new Mac, but I do not know if the motherboard controller accepts this type of connection. in the old iMac 27 I added hdd with a double cable to connect hdd and keeping the DVD optical drive

Hi Thank you for responce I have read replacement guide alredy but there is no indication of physical spece for replacement hard drive size. 1TB has W 101.6 mm D 147mm H 26.1 mm BOTH 3TB + 6TB has W 101.6mm D 147mm H 26.1 mm
So if 3TB is mamimum then 6TB shoud fit technically because physical dimention are same for both storage capacity.

hello is not a single disk size problem, is a problem that the motherboard does not see the actual total disk space, if you can read up 3tb and you all install a drive from 4tb result is that you can only use 3tb and 1TB will be lost . but if you can put twice as hd interior space you can put 2 hdd 3tb but not make a total of 6TB but will be two discs separated by 3tb.
counsel you to buy an external hdd thunderbolt will be faster than the main one and you prefer capacity
