I can't insert cd's into my computer
I can't insert any cd's into my cd rom. I took it in to make sure there was not a cd jammed in it and they said there wasn't. what could the problem be?

It could be a sign your drive has failed but before you write it off go to your local Radio Shack and get a disk cleaning kit. Run the cleaning procedure several times and try again with your cd's. If you still can't insert and read a disk you may have to replace the drive. I am providing a link to help with that. Good Luck

It could be the gap between the slot load has narrowed in the middle, to the point which it is thicker than a cd/dvd. I had a similar problem with my MacBook. I put this down to carrying it in a heavily packed bag- the pressure crushing that side of the laptop. Even just picking up the laptop on the right hand side with a firm hand could have narrowed the slot load gap sufficiently.
I solved this with mine by getting a large coin, slotting it just in to the drive opening, and twisting the coin with a slight pressure. This bent the metal entrance back in to shape, allowing cds in and out again. Obviously only do this when the laptop is switched off and disconnected from power. Be really careful doing this, and try not to damage the dust cover! Best wishes.

1. verify that the disk is not warped
2. verify that the drive slot has no foreign object in the channel
3. verify that the disk is properly seated in the carrier
4. replace the optical drive
