Internal and External HD Buisness

My iMac has a broken graphics card and I have no way of turning it on completely without having black and white lines across the screen. I took out my hard drive on my iMac and wanted to transfer the data and files to my Sony External HD and I already did the partition on the external but how am I supposed to do this on my Sony Vaio PC? Please help!

My PC doesn't read the iMac hard drive just says "Removable Disk (D:)"...

Thank you if you helped or even answered, you guys really help a lot of people and again thank you for that!

Do you think there is a way I could do it on my PowerBook G4 since they are both running the same exact software (10.5.8)?

Different operation systems use different drive formats! So in this case your Mac used GUID but your Windows system uses FAT32 exFAT or NTFS as its native format.

Don't despair! There are extensions one can load on your Windows system to allow you access to the files on your Mac drive.

But! Only your created files will be accessible under Windows. As an example a MS Word & Excel or PDF's and lastly, photos. You will of course need Windows apps to access these, your Mac apps won't work under Windows natively.

mmm ... I think you open another can of worms here.

You can't run the newer Intel version of the apps that are on your iMac drive (your PowerBook is PowerPC based)

The second issue you will encounter is depending on the data file (i.e. MS Word) the older version of MS Word can't open the newer file type.

TXT, PDF's & JPEG files you should be OK
