Removing Display and Screen

Hello,

I have a Lenovo Yoga 700-14ISK with a cracked screen. I have ordered the replacement glass, thinking this would be an easy heat/pull/replace operation. However, that is not seeming to be the case. When I heat the glass, all the rubber and plastic around it become too soft to pull the glass off without damaging it.

Does anyone know of a walk-through on replacing this glass? I've only found the 13" version, and that is a totally different screen.

Did you ever find your answer to your question? I too have this identical Yoga 700. Cracked screen, failing digitizer. I have the replacement screen on order... but now I'm worried as mine is looking more like it might be like yours with the glued screen. Here is a link to the service manual for a Lenovo Yoga 700 -141SK.

Scroll to p.44 to see the procedure for removing the LCD screen.

On p.65 there is the part number for the LCD screen. If you search online using just this number (do not add anything else to the search term) you will get suppliers of the part. As you already have ordered the part, hopefully it will have the same number (5D10H35588) printed on the back of the screen

This information, and replacement instructions seems to be pointing to a complete replacement of everything from the hinge point up? I have only ordered the glass & digitizer. I've found only one Youtube video of the process of changing out only the digitizer & glass. This only requires 6 screws or so, not the removal of 6 or so "FRU" items (HD, Battery, etc) from the main body of the laptop. Still very nervous and might send it out for repairs.

Hi, Not disagreeing with you but the service manual identifies it as a LCD 'module with bezel' with no further breakdown of the module into glass, digitizer and LCD screen, which in service manuals for other Lenovo devices they have. Just a point.

Well... I got it fixed. But troubling experience. If this cracked screen ever happens for you DO NOT simply purchase the screen with digitizer. Always purchase the complete screen, LCD, digitizer. The difference is many hours of work removing, and reglueing the digitizer/screen to & from the bezel. The additional purchase price for the included LCD/Bezel outweighs the intense labor of re-using the old bezel. I think the purchase savings was maybe $80 for a lot of headaches and worry.
