My screen randomly flashes pink?

I've had this ASUS laptop for a couple years now and it has been working perfectly. Today I have noticed at seemingly random times, the screen will flicker with a pink color. It first happened while I was watching videos, I restarted it and it seemed fine again but about 30 minutes later while I was on facebook the screen flickered pink once more. I think it may be a graphics card problem but I'm not sure, and I'm not sure how to go about checking or finding out the problem. Any help or advice would be greatly appriciated.

Not sure how to post a question here, but is it possible to get instructions on how to replace the screen on the Asus Q550LF

Hi,

Try connecting an external monitor.

If it doesn't happen on the monitor but does on your screen it may be either the video flex cable, video flex cable connection (at either end) or the LCD screen.

Can you make it happen by gently moving the lid backwards and forwards?

If so it may be the video flex cable that might be the problem. Try pressing gently near the hinge area to see if you can 'make' it happen.

If it happens on the external monitor as well, try starting the laptop in 'safe mode' and see if it still happens.

If it still does then it is pointing to a GPU problem. If it doesn't happen it may be a graphics driver problem

Thank you so much. Following what you said, it seems like my LCD screen may be going bad. It doesn't show any of the same issues on an external monitor and moving/pressing at the hinge doesn't seem to trigger the issue, it seems to just be random. Still kinda sucks, but I'd rather have to replace my screen than more major parts. Thanks again.

Thank you so much. Following what you said, it seems like my LCD screen may be going bad.
