ifixit battery stuck at "1% charged"

Hi,

I recently replaced my Iphone 5S battery with an ifixit replacement battery. Everything went fine. But now when I charge it, it will stay on "1% charged" until I unplug it, turn it off and on and it will give me a more accurate percentage.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with the battery itself. Maybe it is the reason my old battery was playing up and not holding charge for very long. Perhaps another reason entirely.
